As of this February 2026 essay, the Mage role looked strong heading into the second split. High damage, reliable CC, and strong teamfight presence made these five champions solid climb picks for that window — not a live 26.18+ call.
- 1After her 26.7 buffs she's sitting at one of the highest win rates in mid lane. Twin Fang spam does exceptional damage in extended fights and she's extremely hard to kill once ahead. High APM champion but very rewarding to learn.
- 2Burst damage, point-and-click stun, and safe laning phase. Strong into almost every matchup. Q cooldown reductions at later levels make her a late-game monster.
- 3Scales hard, safe waveclear, and a teamfight ult that punishes grouped enemies. Hextech augments make him a late-game terror.
- 4Poke, CC, and an ult with a short cooldown. Forgiving for players new to the role. Her E cooldown reduction makes her much more active in lane.
- 5Team-dependent but devastating with proper positioning. Her Q nerf in 26.5 slightly hurt early trades but her teamfight remains elite — one good Ball placement wins a fight.
